Village or not?

Relying on Gods Proverbs!!! Often we see, hear or read the phrase formerly quoted by a political figure, "It takes a village to raise a child." This quote is said to be an African proverb, but it’s origin hasn’t been traced down to a certain place according to my researching it’s history. It may be a made up term, but it’s one that’s spoken over and over. When quotes are taken literally they can become cliché.

While the meaning behind it is sort of a community mindset, it’s truly not what the family unit should represent. Lately we see it more like; “It takes a government to raise a child”, and this idea’s troubling. No, it doesn’t take a village or government to raise a child. It takes a parent(s) guided by Gods hand to raise a child, and we are the most important role models for our children.

Parents must be prayerful, and careful to not fall into a deceptive trap or mindset. At times our children learn lessons in the most painful way, and that’s by the examples set, but don’t be discouraged. Start by praying for your children, pray for your parenting skills, and pray for your family. Yes, there are times family members, friends and church families help lovingly guide them, but this is not a village (500-2500 people). Don’t be caught off guard, focus on the Lord and allow Him to help you train up your child

(Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.) Blessings
