There is a battle going on for the spiritual lives of our families and children. (Psalm 78:1-4 (MSG) 1-4 Listen, dear friends, to God’s truth, bend your ears to what I tell you. I’m chewing on the morsel of a proverb; I’ll let you in on the sweet old truths. Stories we heard from our fathers, counsel we learned at our mother’s knee.) How many have heard valuable nuggets of Gods Word and yet have turned away? In a time where it seems the Lord is the furthest thing from hearts and minds, we must press in even more.
We must Pray!
We must Seek!
We must Knock!
We must not keep this to ourselves, but pass it on to the next generation. When we lend our ears to the Lord we are essentially bending toward Him and passionately waiting for His guidance. The true Body of Christ must be attentive and willing to listen. When a torch bearer runs an Olympic torch and passes it on to another as my husband did in 96, they are actively handing this over to entrust the next lap will continue on to the finish line where the final runner lights the eternal flame. So it is with parenting, we have a responsibility to pass the torch on to the next generation.
Yes, our children may walk away and indeed make poor decisions, they’ll hit bumps in the road, but the parent that is spending time on their knees in prayer on their behalf can help reignite the eternal hidden flame of Gods Word that’s been planted in their heart and minds. You see, it took me some thousands of miles away from home as a rebellious teen to look up and question the God of my youth. The Word was planted at an early age, and I became the seeker saved by His loving Grace. His Word does not return void even when you are hopeless, God is there.
He is faithful and true! He is our Redeemer!
Take a moment today, look up and ask Him to give you the manna (bread) needed for your day; maybe for your family or prodigal children, then chew and chew until it sinks in. He is looking for a people that will not fail in passing the torch on to the next generation.
Will you be that Change maker?
May the Lord be with you! PRAY
