Ways to stay focused on the Lord during the Holiday season!!!
1. Start with digging in His Holy Word.
It sounds easy, but it can also be hard to read the Word regularly, if we don’t start our days with this. His Word read is like sweet honey dripping off the pages.
2. Pause, pray especially when you feel overwhelmed.
Life has a way of coming at us hard when we least expect it. Take times to sit and pray about those situations that come out of nowhere. Its in that moment you will find His peace.
3. Make time to serve.
Find ways to reach out in your communities, neighborhoods or workplace. Our pastors are great at keeping up a tradition annually with filling large and small bags of fresh fruit, candy and a hams for those in the community and church. It’s always been a blessing to see the labor of love they put out..
4. Plan your holidays with intention.
Its easy to put up decorations and prepare yummy foods, but taking time to plan is another thing. Leave room in your day for quiet reflection, prayer and praise, seek the closeness with the Lord, which is the greatest gift of all.
"Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven," Matthew 5:16. this is one of my husbands favorite verses through the years we served in ministry.
Let’s restore the special time of Christmas and what God really wants us to focus on. Maybe then and there we will find that wonderful resting place of His Sweet Holy Presence.
Blessings for a great Christmas season from our home to yours!
