Keep walking! Wilderness or not!
Reading Ruth 1:19-2:18. Naomi is leaving Moab and heading home to Bethlehem. Orpah, her daughter-in-law, follows Naomi’s advice and remains with her parents in her native Moab. However, the other daughter-in-law named Ruth clings to Naomi and follows her to Bethlehem.
Naomi was essentially following her mother in law in her own wilderness experience. She was moving on her heart strings and not her emotions. Ruth tells her mother in law; "Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord deal with me, be it ever so severely, if even death separates you and me." Boaz becomes the kinsman redeemer as he marries Ruth, and she will essentially become King David’s grandmother. She stayed the course and a big part of history is revealed in such a powerful way in this book.
How often do we move in a way that blows us off the course God has set before us?
We are tossed to and fro and blown about with every kind of wind. The Bible warns the believer of this happening in the last days where many will leave the faith to follow strange doctrines. We as Christians must be aware and be prepared to walk according to the Spirit. The story of Ruth is a clear example of how she did not follow what man would think or say, but a matter of what the Lord would say. Ruth’s eyes were set on a goal. Looking back through the years I see times before knowing the Lord how I walked on my instinct, and as a new believer there was a longing to see God move I followed my heart. There were times my walk seemed foolish, but instinct won and Gods plan was ultimately fulfilled. Thinking about these times and knowing that wilderness experiences were for the pruning and preparation for something that seemed impossible to man, but truly only possible with God. There has been dry gut wrenching times when God is ready to show up and move, but it takes a seeker to know this Spirit led unction.
Praying for a fresh infilling and move of Holy Spirit t we are to Keep walking! Wilderness or not! Desiring to be a seeker of Christ; no matter the cost the time or the hour is of the utmost is crucial in the days we are currently living in.
Just in the morning hours in the quiet meditation and petitions of our walk; the enemy wants to come in like a flood, bringing heaps of fear, discouragement and fatigue. Recognizing this in the spirit we can be strengthened and proclaim His promises, we will walk in love and not fear. His Word is filled with precious reminders of His great love for all mankind.
In reading a wonderful devotional it stated; “Switching your mindset and that a mindset is an attitude, a disposition, a mood. A mindset is habits of your mind formed by previous experience."
- What is your mindset?
- How have you trained your mind to respond to life?
With reading these words it brought me to the book of Ruth and how she changed her mindset, she walked in a way that was unknown to man, but she was sure to have victory in this situation.
- Today's question is; what is our mindset?
- Are we truly praying through and believing for the fresh infilling of the Spirit of God?
- Are we going to Keep walking! Wilderness or not!
- Yes, is my answer what is yours?
Spend time in prayer and petition, He will see you through it all. Blessings~~
