1 Peter 3: 8-12 Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another; love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous; not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing. He who would love lifeAnd see good days, Let him refrain his tongue from evil, And his lips from speaking deceit. Let him turn away from evil and do good; Let him seek peace and pursue it. For the eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their prayers; But the face of the LORD is against those who do evil.”
The compassion of Christ is displayed in the life of one who follows completely after Him. Those who labor for Christ will face difficulties and hardships, but we are to not lose our compassion for Him or for others. Jesus knows we are facing hard times, but when we are at our weakest, then He is strong. (2 Cor. 12:10)
He will embrace us and relieve us of our fears and anxieties. At present life is an uphill struggle for so many and those mountain top experiences seem huge and ominous, but we must cling to Christ for He will see you through it all. The compassion of Christ is something He freely gives and He has a heart for those who need it most. (Matt 9:35-36). Jesus was moved with compassion when He saw people suffering; He is still the same Jesus today. His heart of compassion does not change; He is the same yesterday, today and forever (Heb. 13:8). Jesus also teaches how to be compassionate and develop compassion toward others.
Dear Lord we ask You to help us to walk according to Your Word. Teach us what true compassion for others and show us how we can love others. In Jesus’ name we pray.
