“Remember the powerful arm of the Lord, to perform miracles on your behalf. Remember all your past deliverance's.” Consider Moses’ exhortation to Israel after the miracle of the Red Sea: “Moses said unto the people, Remember this day, in which ye came out of Egypt, out of the house of bondage; for by strength of hand the Lord brought you out from this place…” (Exodus 13:3).
Just this morning the thought came to me while sipping a hot cup of coffee. I took time to remember what the Lord has done for me, and others in my life (although it was a briefly moment) and it was powerful. As I began reflecting on those moments the thought occurred to me on when our Pastor preached a message on kindness. Showing kindness to one another, and when a little kindness you will open up the blindness.
All too often we see people that are so cantankerous and unkind to another. I asked the Lord in that very brief moment, Lord help to not be a cantankerous person, unkind to others~. I began to reflect upon the many people that the Lord have placed in my path in seasons of my life. They were put there to help guide me along the way. Strangers in the beginning, but then becoming so much more to me as life moves on. It helps us to remember when others have been there when we were in need of a word of encouragement, a moment of prayer, an exhortation and even a rebuke. Yes, we need rebuke in order to make us stronger; and when the chastisement of the Lord comes it truly sharpens us bringing a healing to our sin sick soul.
I remember when there were those in my life who led me to Jesus, and my deliverance was a sure thing. I have not looked back, nor regretted one moment of my surrendering my life to He who died for my sins. At times when I fall short and fail I do not hesitate to bow my knee and run back to the cross in much prayer and reflection.
- Take time today to remember what the Lord has done for you and for others in your life.
- Take time today to remember what He has done and will continue to do,
- Do you remember when you were a little child and He showed up in ways unexpected?
- These are the times that He may have sent an angel unaware. (Hebrews 13:2 Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it.)
- Do you remember when maybe that parent or spouse would not agree with a decision or choice and although unhappy you followed that leading? It may have spared you from a life of misery had you not obeyed. (Eph. 6:1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.)
- Do you remember when your child did something you may agree with, but they did it any way? There is often times a lesson in those moments that the Lord wants to change in our hearts. I am learning this a lot lately. (Eph. 6:4 Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.)
- Do you remember when a friend didn't stand for what you thought may be what was needed at the moment, but in agreement you stood and the Lord blessed that moment! (Prov. 17:17 A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.)
- Do you remember any time recently that the Lord was tugging at your heart to do something and you did not? Was there a lesson that moment? (Prov. 19:23 The fear of the LORD leads to life: Then one rests content, untouched by trouble.)
- The list goes on and on if we just take time to remember and when remembering take it to the Lord in prayer and be thankful for the place He has brought you from...
Blessings in Jesus name!
