Summer Solstice 2020

A great reminder of the Summer Solstice in June . The word ‘solstice’ is a compound of two Latin words, sol-meaning ‘sun’ and ‘sistere’ meaning to ‘stand’ or ‘halt’. It’s a time when the sun seems to stand still, to hang in the heavens for an unusual amount of time. And its a time when we as humans can be still too ; albeit we have been still during this season. We can take time out of our alienated lives to be thankful for the  world we live in and prepare our hearts for what lies ahead. Give thanks to God for the sunshine as it gives life, and this is it’s high point in the summertime. (Psalms 74:17 “It was you who set all the boundaries of the earth; you made both summer and winter.”). As we exit this pause in the spring we can look to the summer for healing to begin.
