Sober Minded...

Many time’s life is so hectic, and leading a busy life we can become inundated with extra activities that are meaningless and at times bring about useless worry.

Today I attest to that as my life has become so busy and overwhelmed with the cares of situations on friends life situations that I lose sight of what is going on in my personal life. It often feels like I am sitting on a Potter’s wheel spinning around and around; a piece of clay that is constantly being put in the kiln of fire.

This morning while studying in the book of 1 Peter 4, reading on Living for the Lord and Suffering for Being a Christian… I realize the importance of what we must be doing daily, striving and living for God…. Putting away all the ways of the world and dying to self…the Bible does tell us; “The end of all things is near. Therefore be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray.”

What does it mean to be sober minded and alert?

To be sober mined would be someone that is sensible, serious and God’s word is clear on this and we must be preparing our mind for action. To be filling our mind with action we must be reading His Word and being diligent about it, preparing ourselves with sound doctrine, so that when hard times come we are able to be alert with sound reason.

A sober mind works with “right thinking” and “right living” reasoning things out and being a witness for all to see the love of Christ in us. Being alert and being prepared for the times to come.

Our passions and desires can bring polluted thinking about, but when we are sober minded, living with and walking with the Spirit of God, we are thus Living for the Lord and our lives will take a step back, look at the result and say, wait a minute! We can be sober minded to look at what is “inundating our lives” and we can then stop and rest in the Lord. Waiting on Him, knowing His plan and purpose for our lives! May we be sober minded today and may we seek His will in all…

Word of the day! Inundated “to cover with a flood: overflow : to be overwhelmed.

Verse of the day! 1 Peter 4:8 Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.

Chapter of the day: 1 Peter 4
